The Polio Place website has a section devoted to Medical Articles. Here you will find 440 articles dating from 1981 to present which focus on polio’s late effects, post-polio syndrome and aging with polio. A proportion of these articles have been marked with a tick – these are considered to be classic or seminal articles, summary articles or articles reporting longitudinal studies. These are the articles which are explored in more detail here, with the addition of abstracts in most cases – if made available by the author and/or publisher, occasionally the full text of papers can be also be downloaded from our site. We are very grateful to PHI for not only compiling the complete list, but for drawing our attention to particularly important or interesting papers. Naturally, the full list of articles on the Polio Place website is well worth browsing. If you find a title which interests you, a Google search will usually an abstract, and occasionally a full-text version.
